Blackbird Doughnuts – For those with a sweet tooth, Blackbird Doughnuts is an absolute must-visit. Gas Light Brasserie – We serendipitously stumbled upon this South End gem, and it quickly became a highlight. Flour Bakery + Cafe – Renowned for its delectable baked goods and hearty breakfast options, Flour is another local favorite. Their sticky buns are legendary and have even won national acclaim. It’s an ideal spot to fuel up for a day of exploring with a delicious sandwich, pastry, or a comforting bowl of oatmeal.

City Table – Tucked away in the South End, City Table provided one of the most delicious dinners of our trip. With a focus on seasonal, American cuisine, the restaurant offers a refined dining experience. Their expertly crafted dishes and warm atmosphere make it an excellent choice for an elegant evening out.

Citizen Public House & Oyster Bar – A haven for whiskey enthusiasts, Citizen boasts an impressive selection of spirits alongside a fantastic menu. This gastropub offers a lively atmosphere and delicious upscale bar food, making it a great spot for both a casual bite and an extensive drink selection. Their oyster bar is also a popular draw.

Toro Boston – Though we didn’t manage to make it to Toro personally due to our packed itinerary, it came highly recommended by virtually everyone we spoke to. This award-winning restaurant specializes in authentic Spanish tapas, promising a vibrant culinary experience with shareable plates and a lively atmosphere.

South End Buttery – A charming neighborhood cafe and market, the South End Buttery is perfect for a casual meal or picking up gourmet treats. Known for its cozy ambiance and delicious comfort food, it’s a staple for locals and a delightful find for visitors seeking a relaxed dining experience.

Saus Boston – If you’re looking for elevated comfort food, Saus is your go-to. Famous for its Belgian-style frites and an incredible array of homemade dipping sauces, their waffles are also highly praised. Maria’s Pastry Shop – Located in the heart of the North End, Maria’s Pastry is a true institution. Unlike some other more tourist-heavy spots, Maria’s prides itself on filling its cannolis fresh on the spot, ensuring an unparalleled taste and texture. This dedication to freshness makes their cannolis an absolute revelation and a must-try for anyone visiting Boston.

Neptune Oyster Bar – Widely celebrated as one of Boston’s premier seafood destinations, Neptune Oyster Bar is a perennial favorite. We tried to get in but found it too packed, a testament to its popularity. Specializing in fresh oysters, exquisite crudo, and classic New England seafood dishes, it’s advisable to plan ahead or be prepared for a wait.

Hojoko Boston – A vibrant Japanese izakaya located within The Verb Hotel, Hojoko offers a playful and delicious dining experience. With inventive cocktails, delectable sushi, and a lively atmosphere, it’s a fantastic spot for a fun evening. Their unique spin on Japanese comfort food is a standout.

Picco – Known for its exceptional wood-fired pizzas and homemade ice cream, Picco is a neighborhood favorite in the South End.
