Among its many jewels, Palm Springs holds a particularly special place in my heart – a desert oasis so vibrant, it feels like a dream. Does any other place on earth boast such an incredible palette of hues? Every moment there feels like a picture-perfect scene, a photographer’s paradise.
This recent trip was made even more memorable by sharing the experience with good company. It was a true pleasure to have my partner, Jared, join me for the journey, alongside our wonderful friends Brittni and Lexy, all converging for Kelly’s breathtaking wedding. The entire experience was an absolute blast, filled with laughter, discovery, and unforgettable moments.

Our adventure began with a somewhat challenging journey. We initially thought the drive from LAX to Palm Springs on a Friday evening, smack in the middle of rush hour, would be an impossible feat. After what felt like an eternity of navigating Southern California’s notorious traffic – about four hours of growing hunger and anticipation – we finally emerged into the serene, sun-drenched landscape of Palm Springs. The relief and excitement upon arrival were immense, signaling the true start of our colorful getaway.

Our vibrant Palm Springs experience was anchored by a stay at The Saguaro, a hotel that truly lives up to its reputation as arguably the most photogenic destination in Southern California. Our culinary adventures were equally delightful, strategically squeezing in slices of delectable cake from the beloved local spot, Jake’s, renowned for its comforting American cuisine in a chic, relaxed setting. For a more casual yet equally satisfying bite, we savored greasy, delicious burgers at The Ace Hotel & Swim Club, where the lively atmosphere and poolside vibes perfectly complement the hearty fare. And, of course, no Palm Springs itinerary would be complete without capturing every possible photo opportunity, particularly at the exquisitely designed The Parker Palm Springs. Its whimsical and luxurious grounds, replete with lush gardens, hidden nooks, and iconic design elements, are a visual feast, offering endless inspiration before we finally made our way back to Los Angeles for two more nights of exploration.
Los Angeles: Urban Exploration and Culinary Delights
Upon our return to Los Angeles, we checked into The Line Hotel, a distinctly urban oasis that offered a refreshingly unique experience. This vibrant street in Venice is my absolute favorite area, brimming with trendy boutiques, art galleries, delicious eateries, and a palpable sense of cool, bohemian sophistication. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend hours wandering, discovering unique fashion pieces, exquisite home decor, and enjoying the lively street scene.

No visit to Los Angeles feels truly complete without stepping into the opulent world of Bottega Louie. It’s a place where the ordinary act of choosing a dessert transforms into a moment of pure joy, akin to spotting a major celebrity for someone else – for me, it’s the unparalleled artistry and visual splendor of Bottega Louie that elicits such fan-like excitement. Taking countless photos, trying to capture the golden glow and the delectable details, becomes an absolute must here. It’s more than just a meal or a sweet treat; it’s an immersion into a world of refined taste and aesthetic delight, a must-visit landmark for anyone seeking a touch of glamour and delicious indulgence in downtown LA.
The following morning, before heading to the airport, we made a quick, yet incredibly significant, visit to the beach. This impromptu stop marked a truly special moment: my very first time ever seeing the vast, majestic Pacific Ocean. Growing up far from any coastline, the sheer scale and beauty of it were utterly astounding, a breathtaking sight that left me in awe. It felt surreal, like a dream finally realized.
