A Texas-Sized Blogger Retreat: Exploring Round Top and Farmhouse Charm
Reflecting on my affection for Texas feels somewhat poignant amidst the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Yet, it also seems like the opportune moment to celebrate the spirit of home. You might recall glimpses from our Instagram stories and previews in July about our blogger retreat to Round Top, Texas, which we had the pleasure of hosting for a group of fellow bloggers from across the nation.
The group that shared that weekend with us has been an online community I’ve been a part of for the last few years, really since my very first blogging conference! While there were a few new faces among fellow Texans, it was particularly rewarding to introduce a taste of Texas to several who had never experienced it firsthand. Our Round Top blogger retreat was a chance to showcase the unique charm and hospitality of the Lone Star State.
I am incredibly grateful to the Round Top Chamber of Commerce and The Vintage Round Top for their generous sponsorship of the weekend. Their support made it possible to create a truly special experience for our guests. We also extend our thanks to The Prairie by Rachel Ashwell and The Wander Inn by Junk Gypsy for providing lodging for the rest of our group! The combination of these amazing locations truly captured the essence of Round Top.
To warmly welcome each guest, we curated a collection of delightful goodies placed on each bed. This included a box of exquisite Lindt chocolates, custom cactus cookies (a quintessential Texas treat, naturally!) crafted by the talented Sweet Jenny Belle, Pizzazzerie’s new entertaining book filled with inspiration, and an array of charming paper goods courtesy of our friends at Minted. These thoughtful touches were designed to set the tone for a weekend of creativity and connection.
As everyone unpacked and settled into the Vintage Round Top, which is even more breathtaking in person than in photos, we began setting up a stunning farmhouse dinner tablescape in the main area to host our first evening’s dinner. The Vintage Round Top provided the perfect backdrop for our retreat, blending rustic charm with modern amenities.
Brittni masterfully crafted an incredibly gorgeous floral centerpiece using flowers from Flower Muse. It completely transformed the table, don’t you agree? The vibrant colors and textures added a touch of elegance and natural beauty to our farmhouse setting. This floral arrangement truly was a focal point.
For those who inquired on Instagram, the custom gold foil menus were also from Minted and are among my absolute favorite designs they offer. The elegant touch of gold foil added a touch of sophistication to our dinner setting. These personalized menus were a detail that guests appreciated.
The catering was expertly provided by Houston-based Armandos. They prepared seriously delicious Tex-Mex cuisine that I hadn’t even had the chance to sample despite living in the area for eight years! It was a delightful culinary experience that introduced me to new flavors and reaffirmed my love for Tex-Mex. The food was definitely a highlight of the retreat.
Of course, we always have to incorporate a fun balloon photo opportunity. We featured my friend Studio DIY’s balloon shop to create an adorable balloon cluster just outside the catering table. Aren’t those rose gold orbs simply amazing? The balloons added a whimsical and celebratory touch to our event. They served as a perfect backdrop for capturing fun memories.
Regarding the rest of the tablescape, we creatively mixed and matched various pieces from the studio to assemble this layered table setting. I’ve included links to all the table sources below to the best of my ability, so you can create your own version of this farmhouse dinner experience. Creating this tablescape was a labor of love and a reflection of our style.
