The exhilarating journey of our One Room Challenge (ORC) is drawing to a close! We’re thrilled to share this penultimate update, chronicling the incredible progress made in our townhome master suite renovation during Week 6. As the finish line rapidly approaches, the vision for our dream master bedroom and bathroom is truly coming to life, transforming from mere plans into a tangible sanctuary of style and comfort.
This is it – the grand finale is almost upon us! Our One Room Challenge Week 6 update marks our very last post before the highly anticipated big reveal next week! The excitement in our home is palpable, and while we’re bursting to share every detail, we’ve intentionally kept some of the final touches under wraps. We didn’t want to spoil all the surprises, saving the full “wow” factor for the official reveal where every carefully curated element will finally be unveiled.
Beyond the excitement, this week has also been a monumental effort in organizing the delightful chaos that inevitably accompanies any major renovation. Moving back into our beautiful, newly appointed bathroom after three weeks of cramming every single item from various drawers and cabinets into boxes has proven to be a far more intricate and time-consuming task than one might imagine. It’s like a giant puzzle where every piece has its perfect place, and finding it requires patience and dedication. However, this intensive reorganization process is undeniably forcing us to be incredibly meticulous and put together – a silver lining, perhaps, with a baby on the way! We’re creating not just a beautiful space, but a functional, harmonious one ready for our growing family.
Looking back at what we’ve showcased since last week’s update, we’re thrilled to report that virtually everything in the master bathroom is now fully installed and operational. From the sleek, custom-fitted glass shower door that defines the sophisticated shower enclosure, to the elegant new toilet, the dual sinks that promise morning harmony, and the gleaming faucets that complete the modern aesthetic – every fixture and fitting is in its rightful place. Finally, after weeks of anticipation, everything is hooked up, sealed, and working flawlessly. The feeling of stepping into a truly finished and functional bathroom after weeks of dust and construction is nothing short of pure bliss.
The Finishing Touches of a Bedroom Renovation
The transformation didn’t stop at the bathroom. The master bedroom itself received some pivotal finishing touches this week, thanks in no small part to my incredible mother-in-law, who truly earns the “MIL of the Year” award! She came back to our house for yet another full 12-hour renovation shift, her dedication and tireless help making a monumental difference. We tackled the installation of this breathtaking metallic gold fleck wallpaper, a design choice we made quite a while back, and it’s even more stunning now that it’s on the walls. The subtlety of the gold flecks against the soft background is simply enchanting, adding a sophisticated shimmer without overwhelming the space. It adds depth and a touch of understated luxury that we absolutely adore. If the room appears a bit dark in the photos, please blame my horribly timed iPhone photography, which is still adjusting to the nuances of daylight savings time. Rest assured, the room truly glows in person!
Another highlight of this week was Jared’s impressive DIY accomplishment. He is understandably insanely proud of having single-handedly replaced our old, rickety ceiling fan with a stylish new model from Craftmade. This was no small feat, considering the fan is suspended from a towering 14-foot ceiling! Honestly, we were convinced that any electrical work beyond changing a lightbulb should be outsourced to professionals. However, Jared embraced the challenge, demonstrating remarkable skill and confidence. He did an absolutely fantastic job, and the new fan not only enhances the room’s aesthetic but also promises improved airflow and comfort. We’ll definitely let you know if it decides to make an unscheduled descent onto us in our sleep, but we’re fully confident in his craftsmanship, lol!
Here’s a quick peek at some of the other key elements that have come together to complete our master suite’s sophisticated look. You can catch a glimpse of the gorgeous gold fleck wallpaper we just installed, complementing our new credenza and the elegant wooden bed frame, both fantastic finds from Overstock. The credenza provides essential storage and a stylish surface, while the solid sheesham wood bed frame introduces a rich, natural warmth and a timeless mid-century modern vibe to the space. Flanking the bed, we’ve cleverly repurposed pristine white dressers from Article, transforming them into chic and functional side tables. Their clean lines and minimalist design integrate seamlessly with the overall aesthetic, offering both style and practicality. Each piece has been carefully selected to contribute to a cohesive and inviting atmosphere, reflecting our personal taste while maximizing comfort and functionality.
We are absolutely head over heels for how the metallic gold fleck wallpaper beautifully accents the gold Emtek door hardware. These modern privacy locks on our sleek Metrie doors and their matching trim create a truly cohesive and high-end look. It’s astounding how much of an impact these seemingly small details make! We always knew good quality hardware was important, but witnessing the transformation that modern doors and their elegant gold accents bring to the entire room is truly eye-opening. Who knew that the right modern doors could make such a significant difference in elevating the entire space, transforming it from ordinary to extraordinary? It’s these thoughtful touches that make a house truly feel like a designer home.
