Beyond the fantastic new gallery feature, we are incredibly excited to announce the newest location for our beloved Color Wall: GreenStreet Downtown! This vibrant urban hub provides the perfect backdrop for our colorful creation, offering easy accessibility and a dynamic atmosphere that truly complements the spirit of the Color Wall. Choosing GreenStreet was a strategic decision to enhance the overall experience, placing the installation in a lively environment where it can be enjoyed by a broader audience, from local Houstonians to visitors exploring the city’s unique charm.
Conveniently, the new location remains super close to our studio, ensuring that it’s still a quick and easy destination for us to manage and maintain. However, this time, we wanted to add an extra layer of visual interest and photo opportunities. We introduced a delightful twist with a magnificent set of ombre stairs, designed to perfectly complement the color wall and provide an incredible bonus photo-op. These stairs are not just functional; they are an integral part of the artistic installation, guiding your eye and offering a unique perspective for capturing your colorful moments. The gradient effect of the steps creates a beautiful depth and dimension, making every angle a potential masterpiece.
Dare I confess? The ombre stairs might actually be my absolute favorite part of the entire installation. (But shhh, don’t tell the wall!) There’s something undeniably captivating about the smooth transition of colors, meticulously chosen to create a stunning visual flow that draws you in. It’s a subtle yet impactful element that elevates the entire experience, transforming a simple set of stairs into an art piece in its own right.
For this fresh iteration, we consciously moved away from the exact color palette of the previous wall, opting instead for a brand-new selection of Sherwin-Williams Resilience Acrylic Paints. This choice wasn’t made lightly; Sherwin-Williams paints are renowned for their vibrant pigment, exceptional durability, and resistance to the elements, ensuring our Color Wall remains stunning and resilient for years to come. A monumental thank you goes out to the incredible team at Sherwin-Williams for their generous donation of all the paint for this ambitious installation! Their partnership was instrumental in bringing this colorful dream to life, providing the high-quality materials needed to achieve such a brilliant and lasting finish.
You can certainly imagine the immense amount of time and effort it took to hand-pick and perfectly coordinate all those stair colors! It was a meticulous process of swatching, comparing, and envisioning the final gradient, ensuring each hue flowed seamlessly into the next to create that breathtaking ombre effect. Color Wall Launch Party: Decor, Drinks, and Bites Extravaganza
The launch party for the new Sugar & Cloth Color Wall was an absolute sensation, a celebration brimming with joy, color, and community spirit. Every detail was curated to create an unforgettable experience, reflecting the vibrant energy of the wall itself. Our incredible partners played a crucial role in making the event truly spectacular. Deep Eddy Vodka kept the good times flowing with a fantastic array of refreshing mixed drinks, delighting our guests with their signature cocktails. As for me, being pregnant, I had to stick with the crisp, sparkling refreshment of Topo Chico – a small sacrifice for such a grand occasion!
The atmosphere was electrified by the beats spun by the one and only DJ Stashwell, who masterfully controlled the music, ensuring a high-energy and perfectly curated soundtrack for the evening. His selections kept everyone grooving and contributed significantly to the festive, celebratory vibe that permeated the entire event. Good music is truly the soul of any great party, and DJ Stashwell delivered spectacularly.
And let’s talk about the food! Happy Endings Food Truck pulled up to serve what can only be described as the BEST kimchi fries on the block. Their mouth-watering creations were an absolute hit, providing delicious and unique bites that perfectly complemented the festive drinks and vibrant atmosphere. The fusion of flavors was an unexpected delight, leaving everyone craving more and adding another memorable element to the party.
While I tried my best to keep up with IG stories during the event, the excitement of hosting meant I wasn’t always glued to my phone. Luckily, we had the incredible talent of Chris Luong of Sloan Visual on hand, expertly shooting video to capture every single magical moment. Thanks to Chris, we have a comprehensive and beautifully crafted visual recap, ensuring that no detail of this spectacular launch party is forgotten. His work allows us to relive the joy and energy of the evening time and time again.
Of course, no Color Wall party would be complete without an abundance of dazzling decor and playful props! To truly immerse our guests in a world of color and whimsy, we partnered with the incredibly creative team at Poppies for Grace. They provided an array of spectacular balloon garlands that draped gracefully, adding a touch of ethereal beauty and vibrant pops of color throughout the space. Their unique and whimsical props were scattered strategically, inviting guests to interact, pose, and create their own memorable, shareable content. From oversized sunglasses to quirky signs, these elements ensured that every corner of the party was photo-ready and brimming with fun.
