Behind the Scenes: A Seattle Adventure with Amazon and a Touch of Sugar & Cloth

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a glimpse behind the curtain, hasn’t it? If you’ve noticed a slightly slower pace in our blog posts lately, it’s because I’ve made a conscious effort to prioritize what I *want* to do over what I feel *obligated* to do. Breaking free from the relentless content creation cycle is liberating, allowing for more thoughtful, inspired work and, dare I say, fewer dark circles under my eyes!

This shift has meant savoring extra moments of rest during recent vacations, enjoying summer evenings exploring instead of being glued to the computer, and wandering around the vibrant city of Seattle after ten-hour studio days. Don’t get me wrong, I adore connecting with you all, but the freedom from feeling pressured to have a perfectly polished blog post ready at the crack of dawn is incredibly refreshing. That being said, I’m excited to share what I was up to during my recent trip to the Amazon studios in Washington!

In the coming weeks, I’ll be revealing all the details about our collaboration with Amazon. It was truly a surreal experience to step into the role of a stylist for such a massive company! I still can’t quite believe they chose me! I had the incredible opportunity to style eleven different occasions for their new party category, which will be launching on their site soon. Witnessing the behind-the-scenes process of creating content on such a scale was an invaluable learning experience. As someone without formal training in styling or blogging, I absorbed a wealth of new knowledge during my time there.

Beyond the professional development, let’s just say I may or may not have introduced the Amazon team to the infectious “Panda” song, complete with my questionable dance moves. Unicorn party hats were definitely involved, and I might have overused the phrase “that’s my jam” approximately 1,387,8714 times. Exhibit A: the Christmas-themed Amazon family photo above! It was all about infusing a little fun and personality into the experience.

No Sugar & Cloth trip is complete without indulging in delicious treats. Naturally, donuts were a must. I also couldn’t resist trying an Ovaltine latte from Top Pot Doughnuts, a nostalgic nod to my childhood.

Meredith, of Cake & Confetti, joined Jared and me to lend her creative touch in the studio. In the evenings, we explored the city and stumbled upon the charming Bar Melusine. Towards the end of the week, Meredith’s husband, Trent, joined us, and we experienced some classic Seattle attractions, including Pike Place Market, a scenic ferry ride, and a culinary adventure through the city’s diverse food scene.

If you’re wondering about the abundance of coat photos in this post, it’s because I finally had the opportunity to wear my new patterned raincoat! Houston’s sweltering heat rarely allows for such layering opportunities. I’m all about weather that complements my desire to bundle up after indulging in pasta during my recent trip to Italy.

And of course, whenever a copper flamingo punch bowl is involved, I’m all in! Isn’t it the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? We found it at The Nest, a rooftop bar at the new Thompson Hotel downtown.

It was an incredible experience blending creativity, style, and a bit of Sugar & Cloth flair with a global brand. Exploring Seattle with friends, indulging in delicious food, and embracing spontaneous moments created lasting memories that will continue to inspire my work.

This Seattle trip really highlighted the power of collaboration. Working alongside the talented team at Amazon and partnering with Meredith from Cake & Confetti enriched the entire experience. Sharing ideas, brainstorming concepts, and supporting each other’s creativity fostered a dynamic and collaborative environment.
